China opposes illegal unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council, a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday, calling on relevant parties to act responsibly and seek a solution through political and diplomatic means.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at the regular press briefing when asked to comment on US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's remarks that the US would impose "the toughest sanctions in history" on Iran and urged China to cooperate with it.
At the same press briefing, in response to another question regarding US sanctions on Iran, Lin said China has consistently maintained that military means, sanctions and pressure are not conducive to resolving the issue. Instead, they will only heighten tensions and escalate the situation, which serves no party's interests.
"We call for differences and disputes to be resolved through dialogue and consultation," Lin stressed.

5月24日，龙湾街道朝晖社区新时代文明实践站深入开展垃圾分类，绿色生活宣传活动，不断深化社区生活垃圾分类治理工作。
活动现场，社区志愿者向居民发放了垃圾分类宣传小册子，宣传生活垃圾分类的重要性，普及科学正确的生活垃圾分类知识，宣传生活垃圾定时定点投放时间、要求等，让居民进一步了解垃圾分类的意义和相关知识，倡导积极践行绿色生活和绿色消费，让居民认识日常生活中进行垃圾分类的必要性。
为进一步增强辖区居民垃圾分类意识，养成良好的垃圾分类习惯，近日，锦山社区新时代文明实践站志愿服务队联合锦山社区物业开展“垃圾分类益处多”活动。
活动中，志愿者及锦山物业工作人员将小区内垃圾进行清理。清理的过程中，向大家讲解垃圾分类的知识，包括可回收垃圾、有害垃圾、厨余垃圾、其他垃圾以及生活垃圾分类的意义、具体做法、投放标准的注意事项等，引导居民正确地进行垃圾分类，倡导居民从日常生活入手，从小事做起，一起当好垃圾分类的宣传者、践行者。
近日，船园社区工作人员及志愿者向广大居民宣传生活垃圾分类知识，养成生活垃圾分类，绿色低碳的生活习惯。在活动中，社区环保志愿者通过向社区居民讲解垃圾分类知识的内容、日常生活中垃圾分类方式。鼓励更多的居民参与到生活垃圾分类治理宣传中来，争做环境保护的传播员、守护员，发挥以点带面的辐射带动作用。
到场居民均表示在这种愉快生动的活动中，更能深刻学习垃圾分类相关知识，并表示会身体力行推进垃圾分类。
